The ancient craft of Enamelling dates back to the 13 th century and is used to add colour, imagery and texture to jewellery and decorative pieces including bowls, glasses, and vases. Enamel consists of very fine, coloured glass which is then fused at a high temperature to a metal base – usually Copper, Silver or Gold. The powder melts, flows, and then hardens to a smooth, durable coating. There are different types of Enamel which can be used to achieve different effects, and these are all available to buy at Cooksongold: Transparent, Opaque, Opalescent, Painting Enamel and Liquid Enamel.
